“My art is about strength, confidence and embracing your full self.” -Natalie Wheeler
6X Media published “Interview with Self-Portrait Photographer Natalie Wheeler” in Vol. 44 of Fashion France Magazine for their Artistic Nude Collection. The fine art editorial features the story of Natalie Wheeler, a self-portrait photographer, written by Jan Crystal.
“Natalie A. Wheeler is an acclaimed photographer best known for her artful and intimate self-portraits. It is a surprising form of expression for someone who describes herself as "self-conscious my whole life and prone to picking apart my appearance." Her journey from a shy mother of two to a photographer renowned for capturing her own sensuality is inspiring and instructive for all artists.”
“Fifteen years ago, Natalie moved to Arizona from the Midwest with her husband and 2-month-old daughter. She started photographing her daughter (and eventually her son) to help herself adjust to being a new mom in an unfamiliar place. Natalie's hobby soon became her profession, as her photographs began to win awards and recognition from magazines – including requests for interviews. Lacking a good headshot, she turned the camera on herself. Thus began her exploration of self-portraiture. “I experimented with light, exposures, and interesting locations and got hooked on the medium. It was more than just a way to express myself. It became a form of therapy that changed my life,” says Natalie.”
