Singer Songwriter Erick Grillo On Life as a Latin R&B Artist

Beginning his musical journey in 2021, Erick Grillo has since become a full-time artist consistently releasing singles while traveling in pursuit of larger ambitions, including earning a Grammy and one day performing at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Some of his most recognized tracks include “quédate,” “DIVINO,” and “Pa’Que.” In 2023, Erick also collaborated with Contagion Media to produce the official music video for “quédate,” further building a creative relationship that now continues through the Artist Journey Podcast series.

During the conversation, Erick shares vulnerable reflections on his religious upbringing and discusses how he has built his own sense of family through the creative community around him. One of the episode’s strongest moments comes as Erick emphasizes the importance of persistence, explaining that success often comes from being willing to “write 100s of shitty songs because doing that is how you eventually get to the good ones.”
